Book Review: Stay With Me, by J Lynn

So as i'm sat here in my bedroom, watching Scrubs series 1, I thought I'd do a review on, wait for it...

Stay With Me, by J Lynn,

Finally!! I finally read it!!!

Here's the blurb:
At 21, Calla hasn’t done a lot of things. She’s never been kissed, never seen the ocean, never gone to an amusement park. But growing up, she witnessed some things no child ever should. She still carries the physical and emotional scars of living with a strung-out mother, Mona—secrets she keeps from everyone, including her close circle of college friends.

But the safe cocoon Calla has carefully built is shattered when she discovers her mom has stolen her college money and run up a huge credit card debt in her name. Now, Calla has to go back to the small town she thought she'd left behind and clean up her mom’s mess again. Of course, when she arrives at her mother’s bar, Mona is nowhere to be found. Instead, six feet of hotness named Jackson James is pouring drinks and keeping the place humming.

Sexy and intense, Jax is in Calla’s business from the moment they meet, giving her a job and helping her search for Mona. And the way he looks at her makes it clear he wants to get horizontal . . . and maybe something more. Before Calla can let him get close, though, she’s got to deal with the pain of the past—and some very bad guys out to mess her up if she doesn’t give them her mom.

As I predicted I loved it!
It was the typical plot structure, troubled main character fighting their inner demons to be with their soul mate. Lovely stuff.
What's crazy about this book is that I honestly think it could have been a spin off of the series because I didn't feel like it was the same series as the other books. I guess its because the novel is in the college but back in Calla's (main characters) hometown and that's where she falls in love. He's a bit older and has never been to college so he had different life experiences, therefore it felt like  more mature book compared to the other. That doesn't mean I didn't love it, because I did.

I really want Katie's story. She was so funny. I can't wait to see how Jennifer writes that one.

I don't know how she's going to get a full novel out of Roxy though, it seems like half the novel has already happened and we missed it. I don't know, I'll just have to wait and see.

The best part for me was a surprise guest appearance from another couple... SPOILER ALERT, it's Kyler and Sydney. I was so shocked when they showed up at the bar. Squealing didn't even cut it.

I loved the character of Calla. Out of all the girls throughout the series I think she's my favourite, with Avery being a close second. Although I might change my mind again soon. Calla has had all this terrible stuff happen to her in the past and she outwardly wears the consequences of others' actions. That is such a burden. She can never forget her past because it's always there every time she looks in the mirror. But what I love about her is that she doesn't tell us that she's brave or that she's strong and how proud we should be of her. She's oblivious to it, she doesn't see it in herself but she proves it with her actions throughout. That's what makes her a great character.

And Jax fits her completely. He accepts her in every way and proves to her with his confidence in his feelings for her that she can be herself and that she doesn't have to hide from everyone. The only time he really annoyed me was the whole Aimee thing because really? It doesn't matter about jealously. If a girl is like that with you, you shut her down if you're sort of with someone else.

Honestly it was a good read. It was just a standard romance novel this time, there was also crime, thriller and higher risks than ever before.

I can't wait for the next one.

I'm giving this:
5 Stars.

My Favourite Author- Jennifer L Armentrout/ J Lynn

Hello there everyone, remember me?
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been writing and Jordan has been on interviews and all those lovely things you have to do in the working world. :( sad times.

Anyway, I thought for a quick (or not so quick) little post I'd tell you who my favourite author is. Now I came to this decision because every single book, novel, excerpt I've read of hers has been fan-flipping-tastic!!!!
Be aware there is a lot, A LOT, of love in this post!

Jennifer L Armentrout!!!

It will come to no shock for those of you who have read anything of hers. All her stories are relatable and easy to follow. They aren't clogged down with so much exposition that your eyes glaze over. The plot lines are always interesting the entire way through and every piece of writing is always something I want to read about, it's like she's reading my mind!!

The first ever book I read by her was 'Obsidian'
I stumbled across this on Goodreads a couple of years ago because so many people had this book in their favourites. And there's no doubt that this is now in mine. It's the first book in the 'Lux' series. A series about aliens who live on earth and a girl who finds herself attracted to an alien boy, MAN, an alien man!! At first I thought it was going to be a rip off of Roswell, and I love the 'Roswell' series; books and TV show. So I was extremely surprised when it not only stood on its own but it (dare I say it) surpassed Roswell!! I've gone on to read the entire series and each book is as good as the first. I now have the new books with the sparkly covers. I love them!!

The next series that I love from the young adult side of her work has to be the 'Dark Elements' series.
Bitter Sweet Love is a novella that came out about a month before the first novel. It was a brilliant way to set everything up, and I fell in love with the series straight away. It's all about a world that has guardians who help the world by stopping demons take over (the guardians are gargoyle which I think is amazing because who has ever read a story about gargoyles? If you have tell me!!)

White Hot Kiss was the first novel for the 'Dark Element' series. And I don't know why but every time I say or read the title I'm always reminded of white chocolate at Christmas. Just me?
I didn't know whether I'd like this novel because I loved the main characters in Bitter Sweet Love but I was so wrong. As soon as I read it I had to get the paperback version for the bonus scene. It all revolves around Layla, a crossbreed between gargoyle and demon. Throughout the book she's figuring out who she is in the world as she doesn't fit in, and along the way she's tied between two men; Roth, the demon, and Zayne, the gargoyle. I have to tell you I LOVE ROTH!!!!! Does anyone else love Roth? When the time comes to vote for who she should be with I'm choosing Roth, simply because he liked her for who she was. He didn't make her hide any part of herself, actually he wanted her to embrace it. And he's hot; well he sounds hot. Who doesn't want a sexy bad boy who's sweet, and gooey on the inside. DREAM MAN!!!
I needed the sequel, 'Stone Cold Touch' like yesterday!!!

Not only does she write young adult fantasy fiction but she also writes new adult romances under the name J Lynn. And this may be my favourite side of her.

The 'Gamble Brothers' series was amazing. The three books was about three brothers falling in love.
The first about Chase Gamble falling in love with his childhood friends at her brother's wedding. I actually read this after the second book. And I love, love, love, love it!

The second was about Chad Gamble, an athlete who needs a fake wife for publicity. I read this first and I loved the character of Bridget. Actually her character was the reason I dyed my hair red. I wanted to try it for years and the confidence she carried in the story made me go for it. P.S I loved my hair red by the way (even though it is now brown).
The third was about Chandler Gamble who falls in love with the woman he's meant to be guarding. I waited longer than a year for this!! I almost went mad. The publishing date was being pushed back again and again but eventually they brought it out and I was super happy!

Frigid was the second book from J Lynn's collection I read and during the time it was a stand alone novel, even though I really wanted a sequel, and now there is one! It's a classic romantic story about a playboy whose in love with his shy best friend, and she's secretly in love with him too.

And lastly, my favourite series out of the bunch would have to be the 'Wait For You' series. It's just an amazing series. Each book has a touch of tragedy that counteract all the gooey romance. And I'm just in love.
The first novel, 'Wait For You' and novella, 'Trust In Me' is about Cam and Avery who meet each other on Avery's first day of college. Just the cookies and turtles and acceptance is awwww. I really want a collection of turtles now and name them all after Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Honestly the song has been stuck in my head since I've read this book. But as they say, a turtle is not just for Christmas :( I bought the first book second hand because I wanted the American covers, and when I opened it up it was signed, BONUS!
The second book is about Cam's sister, Theresa, and his best friend, Jase. Jack completely stole the book for me. Sooo cute!

I now honestly cannot wait for the third book that's out at the end of this month. I've read every sneak peek, entered every giveaway (to no success) I just need it like I need air.

And that's it! Whew that took quite a while, but they are all such amazing book I had to get them in there. If you're looking for something new to read I'd seriously check out this lady's work.

Now to sit and wait for the next release. Hurry Please!!!!

The 'Me In 5 Books Challenge" !

Hi everyone!

I wanted to do something that everyone could do and also give you a bit of an idea of who your reading from, talking to and all that lovely stuff. And that's where the challenge came from. So presenting...

The 'Me In 5 Books Challenge" !!!

Here's the Questions you need to answer and after that you can add on however many questions you want, you can even get back to us and ask us the new Q's you have!!

1. Your favourite book/ series?
2. Your desert island book (the book you couldn't live without)
3. The book that made you love literature.
4. The first book you ever read (not education books :D)
5. The Character in a book that is most like you.

Does it all make sense? I hope so but if you have any questions just ask me. I can't wait to hear some of your answers.

Here's my answers:

1. My favourite book series is 'Starcrossed' by Josephine Angelini. I just love it. The best out of the series is a cross between the first 'Starcrossed' and the third 'Goddess'. The series is about a girl who is descended from Greek gods and has the face of Helen of Troy, who falls in love with a boy who she's meant to kill. It's just amazing, especially because Angelini didn't do what have the authors in the world do and ruin the main relationship in the second book by adding a third party or making the reader think that one of the love interests doesn't care anyone. One, it gets annoying and two my fragile heart can't take it!!

2. The book I absolutely couldn't live without would be 'Howl's Moving Castle' by Diane Wynne Jones. Such a sweet book. It's almost written as one of those old fairy tales. You can practically hear the 'once upon a time...' while you read it. But this book is so much more because even though the style of writing is the whole OUAT format really throughout there is a second story that's never actually written but its hinted at and you don't find out until right at the end that it's actually happening, so you have to reread the whole book and that's when it's like BLOODY HELL that's what was actually going on and I didn't even realise. What I mean is the main protagonist is Sophie a girl who is turned into an old woman by an evil witch and she end up living in a moving castle with a vain wizard named Howl. Because we are reading the story through Sophie's opinions we don't see Howl's story  until right at the end. But I swear its there, really. So I get two stories instead of one. Yay!

3. The book that made me love literature would be 'Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief' by Rick Riordan. Again, it's all about Greek mythology. Honestly if a book has a bit of myth in it then i'm sold. An author would make it pretty hard not for me to fall in love with a Myth Book. This time the story begins with a 12 year old boy who discovers his father is Poseidon, god of the sea and he's sent to Camp Half-blood, a place to keep descendants of the gods safe from monsters. I remember picking up this book from WHSmith and being completely drawn to it. I read the back, saw that it was a children's book about Greek mythology and my mind was blown! I thought if this book is brilliant imagine what else is out there. And that's when my true love of books began, even though I've been reading pretty much my whole life.

4. The first book I ever read (Or the earliest I can remember) would be 'The Twits' by Roald Dahl. A children's book about a horrible married could who play nasty tricks to capture birds and eat them. I have to say Dahl's sense of humour is wicked. Even though it's a children's book I can be seen as dark and twisted. I guess most of his work is. I did love it though, it's like the dark side of children's fiction. The idea of Mr Twits' beard side makes me want to gag to this day. Imagine never washing a really long beard and all the food getting stuck, the smell... Euuggghhhh, NO!! But even though they were horrid people in the end I felt sorry for them. I mean the way they died was terrible. I'm still scared to stand on my head to long. Not that I do that in my spare time. (I lie, I'm actually writing this upside down).

5. A Character from a book that's most like me. If you had asked me this question a year ago i would n;t have been able to give you an answer. I have read Hundreds upon hundreds of books and I have never found one that resembles me a lot. But then I Read 'Fangirl' by Rainbow Rowell and it was like the world clicked into place. The story is based on a socially awkward girl called Cather who uses writing (fanfiction) to be herself. I'm not a fanfiction obsesser like Cather although I do dabble. But the anxiety and socially awkwardness I can completely relate to. It was especially the part in the book where she explains to her roommate why she won't go to the dinner hall (Or whatever they call it) she says that because she didn't go the first day she now can't go because she'll be the new kid who doesn't know what the rules are. She had already built up mental blocks in her head to not go. Until that point I didn't think anyone felt that way about anything expect me. I get that was about a lot of things and to hear from someone that they understand it was brilliant. Cather worked through it and I'm working through mine and I hope it helped and comforted other people as much as it did me.

So those are my answers. Now it's your turn!!

Lost Girl Review

Are you a Sci-fi/ Fantasy fan? Are you are fan of moments of comedic genius? Are you a fan of heart felt emotion? Are you a fan of strong female performances? Are you a fan of mythology? Are you a fan of love triangles? Are you a fan of character driven shows? Are you looking for a new show to binge watch? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions then look no further than the Canadian Fantasy show Lost Girl. And if you’re already a Faenatic we want to know your theories and general thoughts on the show.

Lost Girl was created by Michelle Lovretta (Instant Star, Sorority Wars). It first graced our screens in 2010 and can be found on Showcase in Canada and SYFY in America and the UK. It has won various online polls such as favourite couple and is one of the few shows with a female as its central character.

So what’s it about?

Lost Girl follows the charismatic Bo (Anna Silk- Being Erica, Assassins Tale) who with a touch of the hand can make people do what she wants, like not paying for a bill at a diner. However her skills aren’t all that they’re cracked up to be, as she has a habit of waking up next to dead lovers. (If you know your mythology then you can probably guess what she is.) Together with her wise cracking, trusty sidekick, Kenzi (Ksenia Solo- Life Unexpected, Black Swan), Bo embarks on a journey to figure out how and what she is.

Along this journey Bo meets two parts of a love triangle, a wolf, Dyson (Kris Holden Reid- The Tudors, Underworld Awakening) and a brilliant human Doctor, Lauren (Zoie Palmer- Instant Star, Sex After Kids) who tells her that she is part of a secret biology called the Fae. However the Fae are divided into the Light and the Dark and so Bo must decide what side she wants to choose and even if she wants to be on a side at all.  Will Bo pick a side? Will Bo find out who she is and where she belongs? Will Bo ever pick a lover? Watch and find out.

Why should you watch it?

Basically there really is nothing out there at the moment that it’s similar to although if you’re a fan of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, you should definitely watch it as it is the show that Lost Girl is compared to.

Lost Girl takes mythology, some well-known and some not so much, but instead of just going here’s a vampire or here’s a wolf, it puts its own unique spin on it e.g. the bad guy in mythology is not necessarily the bad guy in Lost Girl.

It has lots of layers, going from very dramatic to comedic.

It has heart and you are sure to fall in love with the characters.

It has gripping storylines that make you want to carry on watching so it’s perfect for binge watching.

It treats its audience like adults.

The sets and clothes are amazing.

The actors are believable and have incredible range.

So what’s wrong with it?

There are a few continuity errors here and there so you have to be prepared to put up with them. However, in the first season for instance, the original pilot was episode 8 and so, season one was shot out of order, which can explain some of the errors.

It does not have a huge budget so some of the special effects are not the best.

Due to the nature of love triangles, at points you will just want Bo to choose already but that comes with the territory.

But if you are willing to look past these then you are sure to enjoy Lost Girl.

Overall Lost Girl is one of the best Science Fiction/ Fantasy shows on television at the moment, if not the best (this is proclamation of personal taste) and is sure to make you laugh, cry and even cray cray at some points.

Lost Girl has four seasons out to buy and on Netflix so you have plenty of time to catch up before season 5 starts.

Platform 9 3/4 Review

Kings Cross Station, Magic and Muggles can only mean one thing, Platform 9/3 Quarters. WAIT! Muggles? Yes that’s right Muggles, a very long cue of Muggles so if you are a young Witch or Wizard, we’re afraid you will have to wait to get to the platform unless you have a cloak of invisibility handy, in which case you can go straight through.

So for those of you who don’t know what Platform 9 3/4 is, you must be the Muggleiest Muggle there is, (no offence).  Platform 9 3/4 is a secret platform in Kings Cross Station London, it’s a secret as Muggles (non-Witches and Wizards) are not supposed to know about anything to do with magic (the cue suggests otherwise).

What can you do at the Platform? You can try and get onto the Platform by pushing a trolley full of items that you will need to go to Hogwarts, like a white owl and some suitcases. If you don’t make it through the wall onto the Platform, then we’re sorry but you must be a muggle, but at least you can get a professional photograph to remember the occasion that costs just under ten quid, so it’s hardly going to break Gringotts. If that’s not your style then you can always take your own photos.

So what props can you use for a photograph? You can choose to wear one of the Hogwarts Houses Scarfs, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin. The staff at the platform encourage you to take the scarf of the house that you truly are and not just take Gryffindor because that’s the house the famous Harry Potter belongs to.  You can also choose from a range of wands which include Hermione Granger’s and Professor Snape’s. As an added plus, if you feel up to it, you can dawn the Harry Potter spectacles, so the Platform has an excellent range of props that you can use to make your photograph extra special. Plus you can have as many people as you like in the photo, so if your young ones are making their first trip to Hogwarts you can remember this momentous occasion with a family photograph or if you are too cool for this, you can always get a photo by yourself.

What are the staff like? The staff are brilliant and encourage you to be as silly as you want with your photos, this is as they want what is best for you rather than a picture of you standing holding the trolley. They are loud and talk to everyone in the cue creating an exciting atmosphere. Due to the nature of this, cue times can be long and so Witches, Wizards and Muggles are encouraged to keep hydrated. You can always try and go at quieter times such as in term time/ working hours, but hey it’s London, is it ever really quiet?

There is also a Platform 9 3/4 shop where you can buy a school uniform, wands, a Marauder's Map (if you feel up to no good), Chocolate Frogs (if you feel like collecting wizard cards) and basically anything that you can think of that involves magic. However the shop is quite small and so can get crowded, also you may need to empty your account at Gringotts to buy all you need (you have been warned).

Overall, Platform 9 3/4 is a must for all Witches, Wizards, and all Muggles that have heard of Harry Potter and it is sure not to disappoint. So what are you waiting for #GoingtoHogwarts

Want to See: Gotham!!

Have any of you seen the trailer for Gotham?

If you haven't here it is.

I don't know what to make of it.
I mean, if it's done in the right way i guess it could be great. Looking through the trailer there's a kid Batman, kid Poison Ivy, kid Riddler. Kind of reminded me of Teen Titans. It could be interesting.
My worry is that after the first series or so, there isn't going to be much of a story line. How long can they pace the story anyway until it essentially becomes Batman?
My other worry is the main actor. yes the guy from the OC. I haven't seen him in anything since and I'm not sure he'll pull it off. Already from the trailer the faces he pull are questionable. Ah, I could definitely be wrong. Lets wait and see.

Are you looking forward to it?
Do you think it's going to be a huge flop?
Would you rather they bring back Lie To Me instead? (had to throw that in there, I want it back)

I Need It Now!! 'Stay With Me' by J Lynn

Hi Freaky Geeks.

I am dying to read 'Stay With Me' the third book of the Wait For You series by J lynn (Jennifer L Armentrout)

Here's the Blurb:

Book Review: 'Between the Spark and the Burn' by April Genevieve Tucholke

Hi Freaky Geeks, it's Rebecca.

Today's book review is Between the Spark and the Burn by April Genevieve Tucholke.

I have to say I wasn't looking forward to reading the second novel in the series. I remember waiting a whole year for the first book to come out  and when it did I was slightly disappointed. For one I thought the series would be about the devil seducing a Victorian girl. That's what I got from the cover and title. Instead it's about a boy who likes to lie and mess with peoples heads with the powers he has. Honestly through most of the book I wasn't a fan of the characters. They were a little bland. The ending however made the whole book, sadly as I said it was only the ending. But I wanted to give the second book a shot and see where it would lead me.

Here's the blurb:
Freddie once told me that the Devil created all the fear in the world.
But then, the Devil once told me that it's easier to forgive someone for scaring you than for making you cry.
The problem with River West Redding was that he'd done both to me.

The crooked-smiling liar River West Redding, who drove into Violet's life one summer day and shook her world to pieces, is gone. Violet and Neely, River's other brother, are left to worry—until they catch a two a.m. radio program about strange events in a distant mountain town. They take off in search of River but are always a step behind, finding instead frenzied towns, witch hunts, and a wind-whipped island with the thrum of something strange and dangerous just under the surface. It isn't long before Violet begins to wonder if Neely, the one Redding brother she thought trustworthy, has been hiding a secret of his own . .
.

When I was reading the book I was so confused through most of it. I couldn't tell what was real and what wasn't. What was a dream and what was reality. What was fact and what was Violet's confused thoughts. It just frazzled my brain a bit. Don't get me wrong, if that's what April was going for she did one heck of a job. If she wrote it for the voice of the book to not be trusted by the reader then a job well done April. But he plot was annoying me, once you think you've cracked it and you know what's happening, something else is revealed and you're back to square one. FRUSTRATING!!

River annoyed me so much in this sequel. His bout of craziness was confusing. I started to really hate him. I agreed with Violet, she hated him in some ways but she still clung on to the boy she fell in love with the summer before. But even though I'm saying that I still felt bad for him. I still yearned for the boy in the first book. If anything will make a last impression on me from reading the sequel is that River had a shitty hand given to him in life and he deserved a lot better.

As the book carried on I started to dislike and distrust Neely more and more. There was something about him that I just couldn't put my finger on. Even in the first book I could tell that he was going to inevitably be bad news. In the end I deduced my feelings to his growing relationship with Violet. I was torn between wanting Violet to have a happy healthy relationship and wanting River to be better because I liked him more from the first novel.

I think Violet felt as lost as I did, which makes sense because how clear can we be about things when the voice to the story doesn't have a clue what's going on or how she should feel about it. She was vague and 'wishy-washy- right up till the end.

The one person I did like throughout was Finch. Such a calming Oasis to the storm that is the Redding siblings. It was a relief whenever a read a part that involved Finch, maybe then I would actually get some sense out of the story. And even that blew up in my face.

Overall it was a mess. Maybe a good mess, I'm not entirely sure. I'm still reeling from the confusion of the novel. Honestly I want to love it because the Redding boys are so interesting characters. The ending this time was also weak. I wasn't a fan. Hardly anything was tied up and I hate open endings.

Rating: 3 stars.

What did you think?

The Fault In Our Stars- Book and Film.

Amsterdam, metaphor, An Imperial Affliction and the heart of Jesus can only mean one thing, but in this case two things, John Green’s The Fault In Our Stars and it’s movie adaptation.

The Fault In Our Stars is a young adult novel by John Green (Will Grayson Will Grayson, An Abundance Of Katherines and Looking For Alaska) that was published in 2012. It has sold multi million copies worldwide and has a legion of adoring fans both young and old so is it any wonder why there is a film adaptation? The film has an all-star cast that includes Shailene Woodley (Hazel Grace), Ansel Elgort (Augusts Waters), Nat Wolff (Isaac) and Willem Dafoe (Peter Van Houten)

So what’s it about? The Fault In Our Stars follows Hazel Grace a teenager who has cancer and all that entails. Hazel’s days consist of binge watching reality TV and rereading An Imperial Affliction (AIA), so her mother thinks that she is depressed and forces her to go to a cancer support group. After a few visits, Hazel meets a boy, Augustus Waters (Gus) who is a cancer survivor. They strike up a friendship or ‘friendship’ if you prefer, sharing their likes which then become neutral likes such as AIA, (which is a fictional story by Peter Van Houten) that ends in the middle of the story and due to this Hazel has several questions that she would like answered. The problem is that Peter Van Houten has become a recluse living in Amsterdam and has never replied to her fan mail. So will Hazel Grace ever get the answers she seeks? Can Augustus Waters help her? Will Hazel Grace survive? To find out the answers you have to read the book or watch the film.

So what happens if you commit the cardinal sin of watching the film and then reading the book, as I (Jordan) did? For starters, you do not know what is going to happen as you watch the film and so you are not waiting for a particular line or part in hope that it made it into the film. But what happens to your opinions about the film and the book? [This part contains SPOILERS so if you do not wish to know what is different from the book to the film then read no further].

A big point that you will notice, and I do not think it makes much of a difference if you watch the film first or read the book, but you notice that the film encapsulates the feel of the book completely, the tone is there, the main characters are the same, there’s still an edginess, the comic styling is still there (scene with Isaac and the trophies for instance) and the jokes are included. Therefore the film adaption is a brilliant way to become engulfed into the story (bring in new fans) and please old fans alike. But what are the main differences?

In the book Hazel Grace thinks that she is like a grenade that could explode at any time, causing damage to those around her. The reason about how she comes to think of herself this way is drastically different in the film from the book. In the film, Hazel Grace has an epiphany of this but in the book it is from learning about Augustus’ ex-girlfriend Caroline who died of brain cancer that she sees herself this way. So does this change make much of a difference? To the hard-core fan, yes but to someone who saw the film first, no as it is addressed in a way that you would not guess that it is different from the book.

Another difference is the way in which Hazel receives the eulogy for her by Augustus. In the book Hazel Grace finds out that Augustus was writing something for her but she cannot find the piece. So after some hard core thinking she realises that the piece must be with Lidewij, Peter Van Houten’s assistant.  Where as in the film, when Peter Van Houten gets into Hazel Grace’s car after Augusts’ funeral he hands her a piece of paper and tells her that she will want to read it. However Hazel Grace does not realise what the piece is until slighter later in the film. So is this a big difference? Quite simply yes, as Peter Van Houten went to Augusts funeral in the book and so the film adaptation makes it easier for Hazel Grace to find the eulogy and it makes Peter Van Houten’s visit more dramatic in a sense as it somewhat redeems him slightly for his pervious actions, whereas the book does not do this in the same sense.

So can you enjoy the book after seeing the film? Yes, although the main story is the same there are a few surprising differences that will give you the chance to look at the story in a different light.

Should you read the book if you saw the film? Yes, as John Green is a master of voice, comedy and heart felt moments and should not be missed.

If you haven’t seen the film should you? Another Yes, as Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort give outstanding performances that encapsulate the book whilst offering their unique acting talents. Also Willem Dafoe is brilliant as the not so Mr nice guy Peter Van Houten.

Overall both the book and the film are incredible and should not be missed, whilst both have aspects that are unique to them and so work swimmingly together.
Book available in all good retail stores and film has just left the cinema.

So what do you guys think?

Book Review: 'Dark Skye' by Kresley Cole

Hi my Freaky Geeks, it's Rebecca.

Today's review is on a book I just finished reading...

Dark Skye by Kresley Cole.

I've been waiting for this book for a good few months now. I love the entire series. Its so mythological and sexy at the same time. I read the first book about two years ago and it wasn't for another year when I re-read it that I realised there was an entire series to go with the first. BONUS!!

The series is about different couples within the Lore, what they call the mythical creatures that inhabit our world. Every book is a different couple who has been introduced to us slightly from the previous books. My favourite so far has to be 'Dark Desires After Dusk'. A story about a demon called Cadeon who finds out his mate for eternity is a human named Holly. I already knew before even reading that book that I was going to love the character of Cadeon the most, still trying to figure out why. Although the close runner up would have to be 'Demon from the Dark'.

This book is the fourteenth in the series if you count the spin off novel in the Dacian series. I was really looking forward to this book since the scene between Thronos and Lanthe (the main characters in Dark Skye) in the book 'Kiss of A Demon King'. But before I get into it all here's the blurb:

ETERNAL OBSESSION
As a boy, Thronos, prince of Skye Hall, loved Lanthe, a mischievous Sorceri girl who made him question everything about his Vrekener clan. But when the two got caught in the middle of their families’ war, tragedy struck, leaving Thronos and Lanthe bitter enemies. Though centuries have passed, nothing can cool his seething need for the beautiful enchantress who scarred his body—and left an even deeper impression on his soul.
ENDLESS YEARNING
Lanthe, a once-formidable sorceress struggling to reclaim her gifts, searches for love and acceptance with all the wrong immortal suitors. But she’s never forgotten Thronos, the magnificent silver-eyed boy who protected her until she was ripped from the shelter of his arms. One harrowing night changed everything between them. Now he’s a notorious warlord with a blood vendetta against Lanthe, hunting her relentlessly.
CAN THE HEAT OF DESIRE BURN BRIGHTER THAN VENGEANCE?
With their families locked in conflict and battles raging all around them, will Thronos and Lanthe succumb to the brutal chaos that threatens everything they cherish? Or will the fragile bond they formed so long ago spark a passion strong enough to withstand even the darkest doubts?

After reading the book I would say it's an OKAY book for the series. By no means is this a let down. It has just as much stakes as any of the others, the romance between Thronos and Lanthe is just as ooey gooey as the others. I guess I was expecting a lot going into it that inevitably it was a bit of a let down. It wasn't a top contender for me in the series. Without the comparison of the other books from the series I would say it was a good book. The world building that Cole does is top notch. The way that she developed Thronos' character throughout was done well, especially with his injuries he had to face everyday.

However, the story felt almost repetitive throughout. And now I think back over the story I  can't remember much happening. And isn't that the signs of an 'OKAY' book? That it was good, but you can't remember what i was like.

Rating: 3 stars.

What did you thinks of it?

Film Review: The Inbetweeners 2 (May contain spoilers!!)

Hi my Freaky Geeks, it's Rebecca again here for a film review.

Yesterday I went to the cinema to see what I hoped would be and epic sequel to an amazing film and an amazing series. I have to say that it did not disappoint.

The film...  The Inbetweeners 2.

When I first heard that there was going to be a sequel I probably had the same thought as 99% of the rest of you. This film would suck, like Neil's dad (sorry had to put it in there). And I watched the trailer and thought the same thing. I thought it would be a massive flop. It was made even worse when my brother told me they were going to kill off either Neil or Jay. So with a heavy heart I entered the cinema, paid the £5 it costs with 2 for 1 orange Wednesdays and sat down for what I thought would be the catastrophic ending of the Inbetweeners franchise. Well ten minutes into sitting there someone let off in the theatre, it was absolutely disgusting and kind of befitting for the film as they are all known for the crudeness and 'British' sense of humour. I really wasn't looking forward to it. Then it came on, and it was brilliant. They have serious 'BANTS'.

For those of you who haven't seen anything Inbetweeners, or just watched the rubbish American version then I'll explain. The story is based around four socially awkward friends getting into embarrassing situations. Sounds funny enough, and I promise most of you will be ROFLing until the cows come home.

Here's the synposis:
Will, Jay, Neil and Simon head Down Under in this raunchy sequel to the record-breaking comedy. Last time we met the Rudge Park posse, they were causing chaos in Malia, Crete. Nearly a year on, Will (Simon Bird), Jay (James Buckley), Neil (Blake Harrison) and Simon (Joe Thomas) have gone their separate ways. Jay is staying with his uncle in Australia. Neil has actually managed to get a job. And Simon and Will are at different universities, but life isn't panning out as they'd hoped. So when Jay emails to say he's now become the biggest DJ in Australia and his life is one long party, the threesome need no encouragement to leap on a plane for a wild Easter break. Creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris take over as co-directors of this eagerly anticipated sequel to the most successful British comedy of all time. Expect outback mayhem and big laughs!

As per usual Jay is the biggest bullshitter ever. They end up camping out in a two man tent on jay's uncles lawn the first night there. Then, following the advice of an eager Will they travel to Byron Bay where he can fail at trying to pull his first ever crush, while Simon is accused of being a peodophile and desperately tries to break up with his crazy girlfriend (Will and Neil's failed romances aren't explained), Jay tries to get Jane back after she breaks up with him and moves to Australia, and Neil... well he's Neil and has an irritable bowel. We all know where that's going.

I don't want to say much else or I'll spoil it all.

The film is funny from beginning to end. And the ending was pretty, bloody brilliant. Honestly, check out Simon's hair!

I give it 5 stars!!!
Check it out.

Review: 'Opposition' by Jennifer L Armentrout

Hi my Freaky Geeks (Sounds kinda sexy, I'm sticking with it)!!

It's Rebecca here and I was debating what to do for my first blog review. Then it hit me. Opposition is out on August 5th. Which is today!!! I am soooo doing a review on that bad boy.

Opposition is the fifth full novel in the Lux series by Jennifer L Armentrout. I say 'Full novel' because this beauty of a series also has a spin off and a prequel novella (Not to mention all the juicy excerpt Jennifer so generously provides for us all. That's what I shall call her from now on, Generous Jennifer.) The cover of the newest and last book looks like this.

Isn't this gorgeous? Not just the guy but the whole thing... but the guy is also mmm. In paperback/hardback the cover glitters too.

So unless you don't know the series is all about a girl getting mixed up in an alien invasion because she fell in love with an alien herself. Ooohhhh.

Here's the blurb:
Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.

She can't believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.

They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.

War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

The last book didn't disappoint. It was completely action packed. Every chapter was full of risk and anticipation.
Katy and Daemon were as loved up and stubborn as ever. Throughout your panicking on whether Jennifer will go through with crushing all of our hopes and dreams and killing one of them. I wont say whether she is in fact that cruel but I will say that I did cry in the end. Sorry to make you all freak out but that just means you have to go and read this book!!

Not one part of this book was dragged out. They were always on the go doing something, always travelling from one place to another to get things done. It was refreshing because usually you get the kind of book where half of it is in one place where they keep you on  tender hooks wondering whats going to happen between all the characters. And in an adventure and life or death experience it's kind of unrealistic to sit on your tod and wait around for something to happen.

My favourite character in the book would be Daemon. But then again who would not pick Daemon, he is in a league of his own. He reminds me of Will from 'The Infernal Devices' by Cassandra Clare. The cocky, sarcastic attitude is so fun to read. The one liners that come out of his mouth is so unexpected that you want to read on to find out what else he'll say.
Although I did love Archer in this one. Yeah, yeah...

It was a perfect ending to an amazing series. It has been a brilliant read not only the last book but the entire series. This will forever go down as one of my favourite series. Read this book!! If nothing but for the pretty new covers. Haha!

Rating: 5 Stars.
