Book Review: Stay With Me, by J Lynn

So as i'm sat here in my bedroom, watching Scrubs series 1, I thought I'd do a review on, wait for it...

Stay With Me, by J Lynn,

Finally!! I finally read it!!!

Here's the blurb:
At 21, Calla hasn’t done a lot of things. She’s never been kissed, never seen the ocean, never gone to an amusement park. But growing up, she witnessed some things no child ever should. She still carries the physical and emotional scars of living with a strung-out mother, Mona—secrets she keeps from everyone, including her close circle of college friends.

But the safe cocoon Calla has carefully built is shattered when she discovers her mom has stolen her college money and run up a huge credit card debt in her name. Now, Calla has to go back to the small town she thought she'd left behind and clean up her mom’s mess again. Of course, when she arrives at her mother’s bar, Mona is nowhere to be found. Instead, six feet of hotness named Jackson James is pouring drinks and keeping the place humming.

Sexy and intense, Jax is in Calla’s business from the moment they meet, giving her a job and helping her search for Mona. And the way he looks at her makes it clear he wants to get horizontal . . . and maybe something more. Before Calla can let him get close, though, she’s got to deal with the pain of the past—and some very bad guys out to mess her up if she doesn’t give them her mom.

As I predicted I loved it!
It was the typical plot structure, troubled main character fighting their inner demons to be with their soul mate. Lovely stuff.
What's crazy about this book is that I honestly think it could have been a spin off of the series because I didn't feel like it was the same series as the other books. I guess its because the novel is in the college but back in Calla's (main characters) hometown and that's where she falls in love. He's a bit older and has never been to college so he had different life experiences, therefore it felt like  more mature book compared to the other. That doesn't mean I didn't love it, because I did.

I really want Katie's story. She was so funny. I can't wait to see how Jennifer writes that one.

I don't know how she's going to get a full novel out of Roxy though, it seems like half the novel has already happened and we missed it. I don't know, I'll just have to wait and see.

The best part for me was a surprise guest appearance from another couple... SPOILER ALERT, it's Kyler and Sydney. I was so shocked when they showed up at the bar. Squealing didn't even cut it.

I loved the character of Calla. Out of all the girls throughout the series I think she's my favourite, with Avery being a close second. Although I might change my mind again soon. Calla has had all this terrible stuff happen to her in the past and she outwardly wears the consequences of others' actions. That is such a burden. She can never forget her past because it's always there every time she looks in the mirror. But what I love about her is that she doesn't tell us that she's brave or that she's strong and how proud we should be of her. She's oblivious to it, she doesn't see it in herself but she proves it with her actions throughout. That's what makes her a great character.

And Jax fits her completely. He accepts her in every way and proves to her with his confidence in his feelings for her that she can be herself and that she doesn't have to hide from everyone. The only time he really annoyed me was the whole Aimee thing because really? It doesn't matter about jealously. If a girl is like that with you, you shut her down if you're sort of with someone else.

Honestly it was a good read. It was just a standard romance novel this time, there was also crime, thriller and higher risks than ever before.

I can't wait for the next one.

I'm giving this:
5 Stars.

My Favourite Author- Jennifer L Armentrout/ J Lynn

Hello there everyone, remember me?
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been writing and Jordan has been on interviews and all those lovely things you have to do in the working world. :( sad times.

Anyway, I thought for a quick (or not so quick) little post I'd tell you who my favourite author is. Now I came to this decision because every single book, novel, excerpt I've read of hers has been fan-flipping-tastic!!!!
Be aware there is a lot, A LOT, of love in this post!

Jennifer L Armentrout!!!

It will come to no shock for those of you who have read anything of hers. All her stories are relatable and easy to follow. They aren't clogged down with so much exposition that your eyes glaze over. The plot lines are always interesting the entire way through and every piece of writing is always something I want to read about, it's like she's reading my mind!!

The first ever book I read by her was 'Obsidian'
I stumbled across this on Goodreads a couple of years ago because so many people had this book in their favourites. And there's no doubt that this is now in mine. It's the first book in the 'Lux' series. A series about aliens who live on earth and a girl who finds herself attracted to an alien boy, MAN, an alien man!! At first I thought it was going to be a rip off of Roswell, and I love the 'Roswell' series; books and TV show. So I was extremely surprised when it not only stood on its own but it (dare I say it) surpassed Roswell!! I've gone on to read the entire series and each book is as good as the first. I now have the new books with the sparkly covers. I love them!!

The next series that I love from the young adult side of her work has to be the 'Dark Elements' series.
Bitter Sweet Love is a novella that came out about a month before the first novel. It was a brilliant way to set everything up, and I fell in love with the series straight away. It's all about a world that has guardians who help the world by stopping demons take over (the guardians are gargoyle which I think is amazing because who has ever read a story about gargoyles? If you have tell me!!)

White Hot Kiss was the first novel for the 'Dark Element' series. And I don't know why but every time I say or read the title I'm always reminded of white chocolate at Christmas. Just me?
I didn't know whether I'd like this novel because I loved the main characters in Bitter Sweet Love but I was so wrong. As soon as I read it I had to get the paperback version for the bonus scene. It all revolves around Layla, a crossbreed between gargoyle and demon. Throughout the book she's figuring out who she is in the world as she doesn't fit in, and along the way she's tied between two men; Roth, the demon, and Zayne, the gargoyle. I have to tell you I LOVE ROTH!!!!! Does anyone else love Roth? When the time comes to vote for who she should be with I'm choosing Roth, simply because he liked her for who she was. He didn't make her hide any part of herself, actually he wanted her to embrace it. And he's hot; well he sounds hot. Who doesn't want a sexy bad boy who's sweet, and gooey on the inside. DREAM MAN!!!
I needed the sequel, 'Stone Cold Touch' like yesterday!!!

Not only does she write young adult fantasy fiction but she also writes new adult romances under the name J Lynn. And this may be my favourite side of her.

The 'Gamble Brothers' series was amazing. The three books was about three brothers falling in love.
The first about Chase Gamble falling in love with his childhood friends at her brother's wedding. I actually read this after the second book. And I love, love, love, love it!

The second was about Chad Gamble, an athlete who needs a fake wife for publicity. I read this first and I loved the character of Bridget. Actually her character was the reason I dyed my hair red. I wanted to try it for years and the confidence she carried in the story made me go for it. P.S I loved my hair red by the way (even though it is now brown).
The third was about Chandler Gamble who falls in love with the woman he's meant to be guarding. I waited longer than a year for this!! I almost went mad. The publishing date was being pushed back again and again but eventually they brought it out and I was super happy!

Frigid was the second book from J Lynn's collection I read and during the time it was a stand alone novel, even though I really wanted a sequel, and now there is one! It's a classic romantic story about a playboy whose in love with his shy best friend, and she's secretly in love with him too.

And lastly, my favourite series out of the bunch would have to be the 'Wait For You' series. It's just an amazing series. Each book has a touch of tragedy that counteract all the gooey romance. And I'm just in love.
The first novel, 'Wait For You' and novella, 'Trust In Me' is about Cam and Avery who meet each other on Avery's first day of college. Just the cookies and turtles and acceptance is awwww. I really want a collection of turtles now and name them all after Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Honestly the song has been stuck in my head since I've read this book. But as they say, a turtle is not just for Christmas :( I bought the first book second hand because I wanted the American covers, and when I opened it up it was signed, BONUS!
The second book is about Cam's sister, Theresa, and his best friend, Jase. Jack completely stole the book for me. Sooo cute!

I now honestly cannot wait for the third book that's out at the end of this month. I've read every sneak peek, entered every giveaway (to no success) I just need it like I need air.

And that's it! Whew that took quite a while, but they are all such amazing book I had to get them in there. If you're looking for something new to read I'd seriously check out this lady's work.

Now to sit and wait for the next release. Hurry Please!!!!

I Need It Now!! 'Stay With Me' by J Lynn

Hi Freaky Geeks.

I am dying to read 'Stay With Me' the third book of the Wait For You series by J lynn (Jennifer L Armentrout)

Before Calla can let him get close, though, she’s got to deal with the pain of the past—and some very bad guys out to mess her up if she doesn’t give them her mom.

I really need an ARC or something!! I can't wait another month and a half!!

Can you wait?

Review: 'Opposition' by Jennifer L Armentrout

Hi my Freaky Geeks (Sounds kinda sexy, I'm sticking with it)!!

It's Rebecca here and I was debating what to do for my first blog review. Then it hit me. Opposition is out on August 5th. Which is today!!! I am soooo doing a review on that bad boy.

Opposition is the fifth full novel in the Lux series by Jennifer L Armentrout. I say 'Full novel' because this beauty of a series also has a spin off and a prequel novella (Not to mention all the juicy excerpt Jennifer so generously provides for us all. That's what I shall call her from now on, Generous Jennifer.) The cover of the newest and last book looks like this.

Isn't this gorgeous? Not just the guy but the whole thing... but the guy is also mmm. In paperback/hardback the cover glitters too.

So unless you don't know the series is all about a girl getting mixed up in an alien invasion because she fell in love with an alien herself. Ooohhhh.

Here's the blurb:
Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.

She can't believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.

They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.

War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

The last book didn't disappoint. It was completely action packed. Every chapter was full of risk and anticipation.
Katy and Daemon were as loved up and stubborn as ever. Throughout your panicking on whether Jennifer will go through with crushing all of our hopes and dreams and killing one of them. I wont say whether she is in fact that cruel but I will say that I did cry in the end. Sorry to make you all freak out but that just means you have to go and read this book!!

Not one part of this book was dragged out. They were always on the go doing something, always travelling from one place to another to get things done. It was refreshing because usually you get the kind of book where half of it is in one place where they keep you on  tender hooks wondering whats going to happen between all the characters. And in an adventure and life or death experience it's kind of unrealistic to sit on your tod and wait around for something to happen.

My favourite character in the book would be Daemon. But then again who would not pick Daemon, he is in a league of his own. He reminds me of Will from 'The Infernal Devices' by Cassandra Clare. The cocky, sarcastic attitude is so fun to read. The one liners that come out of his mouth is so unexpected that you want to read on to find out what else he'll say.
Although I did love Archer in this one. Yeah, yeah...

It was a perfect ending to an amazing series. It has been a brilliant read not only the last book but the entire series. This will forever go down as one of my favourite series. Read this book!! If nothing but for the pretty new covers. Haha!

Rating: 5 Stars.
